John Pilgrim has been writing and broadcasting about Beds, Herts and Bucks for over eighteen years. In that time he has been fortunate to visit literally hundreds of places of interest and outstanding beauty across the three counties. Having been born in Hertfordshire, John has always had a special place in his heart for the county and was most pleasantly surprised when he paid his first visit to the area known as Forster Country. He writes:

"It really is one of the jewels in the crown of Hertfordshire not simply because of its association with a great writer but also because of its location. It seems fitting that such beautiful countryside should be tucked away in such an historic part of the county. I visited the area again just recently with a friend who has lived in Hertfordshire all her life and she was amazed as well as somewhat annoyed with herself that she hadn't realised what was on offer in the way of a simple rural setting so close to busy, bustling main roads. We quite simply must not lose one little bit of Forster Country to the ravages of new roads and houses. It is my belief that adequate housing can be achieved through the caring development of our existing towns without encroaching on land that is our heritage. Our children and grandchildren would never forgive us. If anyone needs to be convinced just visit!"
