Wednesday 19 September, 7 - 9.30 pm, Auton Room, Daneshill House, Stevenage We shall be holding an interesting event on Wednesday, 19th September from 7 - 9.30pm: something of a celebration, a fairly brief AGM and a friendly discussion among some invited speakers under the chairmanship of Cllr Simon Speller. The SBC has kindly made available to us the Autun Room of Daneshill House in Stevenage Town Centre. We shall echo the message which Iris Murdoch sent us for our foundation meeting in 1989 at Rooks Nest House: "Keep the green scene" or "Keep the scene green" - whichever you prefer. We shall ask what that pregnant phrase really means against the turbulent background of a supposed national and county shortage of 'homes' in a town committed to major expansion with an already long waiting list, of astronomically rising house prices and a demand for affordable housing, as well as a demand to protect a green town within a sustainable environment. Tea, coffee, wine and soft drinks and nibbles will be provided. We hope many members will come along to hear what the planners have to say and to quiz them to their hearts' content. Do come and try to solve the problems! Friends of the Forster Country do not require tickets for this event. Other members of the public should phone 01438 351462 if they are interested in attending.
